How to wear a down jacket with style

A down jacket is such a large and voluminous piece we usually end up looking like donuts on foot, which is alright, if we have a beautiful slim figure, but this outerwear jacket still can be a challenge for every woman. So, how can we wear one without looking funny or simply feeling uneasy? There are several tricks, of course, even some that may seem impossible at a glance, but we can actually achieve good results with minimum effort. First of all, the down jacket doesn’t really need to be large in order to keep you warm: the lining can indeed be minimal, but only if the quality of the down is as it should be, will it serve its function.

Always style it with selected accessories, such as a scarf and hat made of quality cashmere or in a lovely color. Generally, a scarf and hat can elevate any look. Another piece of advice is to add a coat to a lighter down jacket, and again, the bottom layer shouldn’t be too voluminous, otherwise it will look funny as a whole. Another trick to use is a belt: use it with longer down jackets, so the waist line is visible, which helps create a pleasing silhouette. These models usually come with a belt of their own, but if yours doesn’t, opt for one anyway‒even in a contrasting color or a high, obi-inspired one.

Play around with volumes. A down jacket always requires slim trousers: so if you’re wearing wide leg pants, opt for a coat instead of the jacket. If the jacket is oversized, style it with a tight high neck sweater to keep the volume subtle.
